Think about a mistake you've made that you wish you had a magic “do-over” for. If you are comfortable, share that experience.

Are you a person who pays attention to detail or not? What color is your neighbor’s door?

Read John 13:1-7. What characteristics do you notice about Jesus that come across in these verses? How do you feel knowing that God had given Jesus authority over everything, yet He chose to wash His disciples' feet?

As the Last Supper took place, Jesus knew that in less than 24 hours He would be crucified. What if you knew you only had 24 hours to live? What would be the priorities you had to make sure you accomplished? What priorities did Jesus address in this last meal?

A point that is often overlooked is the fact that Jesus washed the betrayer’s feet. What resonates most with you about this fact? Read Ezekiel 14:5, Genesis 4:8, Jeremiah 2:12-13, Genesis 37:23-28, Isaiah 1:2-4. Why is betrayal so heartbreaking, even to God?

Read John 13:22 and Matthew 7:21-23. How do both of these passages fit Judas? Should these verses serve as warning to us? If so, what is that warning?

In verse 26 Jesus, in a loving action, reaches out the dipped bread to Judas. It is as if He is giving Judas one more chance to turn away from the drastic sin he is going to commit. Think of a time when someone has given you a last chance to come clean or a time when you have been the one trying to give the last chance. If you are comfortable sharing, explain how you felt in that moment.

Read John 13:27-30. Why does John point out that Judas went out into the night? What do we often do that is similar to “going out into the night”? When we give into the temptation of sin, are we betraying Jesus? Because of Jesus’ character, what do we know about the “sin crouching at our door”?

Ask God this week to show you those areas in your life where sin is crouching at your door and ask Him for help and guidance in this area.

Who do you need to reach out to in love and give them one more chance or apologize for a mistake you made. Ask God to show you and help you resolve whatever the issue is this week.

Read John 13:31-38. Spend time with these verses and Jesus’ words and take notice of something you never have before.

Lord, we come to you now asking for your unchanging Grace to bless us. We know that at times we certainly betray You with our sin, yet You love us anyway. We do not deserve the Grace that flows so freely from You, but we thank You for it. Lord Jesus thank You for the utter humility of not only washing Your disciples’ feet but going to the cross so we can be washed clean with Your sacrificial blood. Show us in this upcoming week what sins we need to face and help us stop the sinful beast before it devours us. Only You and Your strength can give us the power to stand up to Satan when he comes against us with his temptation. Go with us now. Guide us and protect us. We ask all of this in Your most Holy name, Amen.
