What other words, verbs and emotions come to mind when you hear the word 'lonely?' Try to come up with as many as you can as a group.
When was a time in your life that you felt lonely?
Do you think loneliness is increasing or decreasing in our current culture?
Loneliness is one of the most honest and recurring human experiences found in the Bible. Angela touched on the stories of Moses (
Numbers 11), David (
1 Samuel 27), Hagar (
Genesis 16), and Hannah (1 Samuel 1-2). Did you relate to one of these stories? Feel free to go back and read each as a group.
Who in your life brings you perspective? A friend, pastor, or counselor who offers hope and points you to Jesus? How do they do this?
Before considering how we can help others outside of this group, is there anyone struggling with loneliness right now? Check in with each other and follow up during the week.

Romans 12:9-13. Angela mentioned that we should never be so comfortable in our own lives that we don’t notice those who are lonely around us. Who do you know that might be struggling and what may God be wanting you to do about it?
